Cape Buffalo!

The Cape Buffalo is one of the "Big 5" animals in South Africa. Natives refer to them as the "black death" since they are widely regarded as a very ornery and dangerous animal. The Cape Buffalo gores and kills over 200 people every year in Africa. Buffalo are sometimes reported to kill more people in Africa than any other animal, although the same claim is sometimes made of the hippopotamus. They are grazers and are frequently found along wet, muddy areas. At the reserve, the Cape Buffalo were along the river and several were under the trees over near the lodges. While there were only a dozen or so at the reserve, the group going on to Kruger will probably see the large herds!
